For now, cars for sale in South Korea. The data comes from public listings on Encar. This site is not affiliated with Encar.

Cars from the US and the UAE will follow.

Where the data comes from and how often it is updated

We regularly read public listings and keep their structured fields: price, mileage, specifications, and the insurance history and inspection results when the seller made them public. We do not publish sellers' listing texts. Every page names the source, the listing number and the date the data was collected.

When a listing is taken down, the page stays: it moves to the archive with the last known price.

What the fields mean

Insurance history

Insurance records the seller made public in the listing: how many times the car itself was repaired under insurance and for how much, how many times insurers paid other parties in accidents, how many times the owner and the plate changed, and whether the car was a total loss, flooded, stolen or used commercially (taxi, rental).

Pre-sale inspection

The inspection sheet issued in Korea before a sale: accident damage, minor repairs, flooding, modifications, recalls and the mileage at inspection.

Body panels

A panel-by-panel body check: which panels were replaced or repaired. If none were, we say how many panels were checked.

VIN decoded

The first three characters of a VIN (the WMI) identify the manufacturer and the country of manufacture. The tenth is the model year: it is mandatory for cars built for the US and Canada, Korea and China, while other manufacturers may use it differently, so we show the year only for those markets. The ninth is a check digit, mandatory for North American cars: if it does not match, the VIN may have been recorded with an error. The last six characters are the serial number.

Price vs. market

The median and spread of prices for the same model and model year in our archive. It is shown only when the archive holds at least 10 such cars.

Mileage check

The listing's mileage compared with the mileage at inspection. If the listing shows less, we flag it.

Limitations

We do not inspect cars or verify sellers' data. A page is a summary of public data, not an expert's report: the car's actual condition may differ. Before buying, check the car in person or through an independent inspector.

Removing a car's page

An owner can remove their car's page in their account: it is instant and needs no documents. Once removed, the VIN will not appear on the site again.
